1. Introduction

Welcome to Brilyo (“the App”), a life purpose mobile application operated by JSMG, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have in relation to it.
By using Brilyo or the Brilyo Life Story Starter Kit (available at brilyoapp.com/starter), you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

Your name, email address, and username when you register for an account
Your password (stored in encrypted form using industry-standard bcrypt hashing — we never store your plain-text password)
Your “Life Purpose” profile, including personal values, goals, arenas of life activity, and life story information you enter through the Life Story Starter Kit or the app
Your daily commitments and reflections that you log within the app
Messages you send to Coach B, our AI coaching assistant

Information collected automatically:

App usage data such as your daily commitment history, reflection logs, scores, and streaks
Your preferred language setting
Your notification preferences (e.g., your chosen morning and evening reminder times)

Information we do NOT collect:

We do not collect your precise GPS location
We do not collect payment card information directly (payments are processed by third-party providers)
We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or third parties

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Create and manage your Brilyo account
Deliver the core features of the app, including your daily commitment and reflection experience
Power Coach B, our AI coaching assistant, using your session context to provide personalized responses
Send you motivational nudges and account-related emails (such as password reset links) via our email service provider
Sync your data securely to the cloud so your history is preserved across devices and over time
Improve the app and fix bugs based on how it is used

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in two places:

On your device: We use local storage (AsyncStorage) on your mobile device as your primary data store. This means Brilyo works even when you don’t have an internet connection.
In the cloud: We periodically sync your data to a secure MongoDB cloud database for backup and historical record-keeping. Our backend is hosted on Render, a secure cloud platform.

We take reasonable and appropriate technical measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted password storage and secure HTTPS communication between the app and our servers.

No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Third-Party Services

Brilyo uses the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy policy:

OpenAI — Powers the Coach B AI coaching assistant. Messages you send to Coach B may be processed by OpenAI’s API. See OpenAI’s privacy policy at openai.com/privacy.

6. International Users

Brilyo is available worldwide. If you are located outside of the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our servers are located. By using the app, you consent to this transfer.

We are committed to ensuring your data is treated with the same level of protection regardless of where it is processed.

7. Children's Privacy

Brilyo is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@brilyoapp.com and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate information
Request deletion of your account and associated data
Withdraw consent for data processing where consent is the legal basis

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@brilyoapp.com. We will respond to your request within 30 days.

9. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the app’s services. If you request deletion of your account, we will remove your personal data from our active systems within 30 days, subject to any legal obligations that may require us to retain certain information.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Your continued use of Brilyo after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
